Arrive at Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station, where you'll be met by our representative and driven to Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. The drive takes you through the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains, a route that builds anticipation for the yatra ahead.
Upon arrival in Katra, check into your hotel and take time to rest and freshen up. In the evening, if you haven't already registered online, visit the Yatra Registration Counter near the main bus stand to collect your RFID-based Yatra Access Card. This registration is mandatory for all pilgrims — without it, you will be turned back at the checkpoints. The process is straightforward and free of cost.
Spend the evening exploring Katra's Main Bazaar, where shops sell devotional items, dry fruits, shawls, and souvenirs. It's also a good time to arrange any assistance you may want for the trek — pony, palki, or battery car — though these can also be booked on the morning of the yatra. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 — Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan (Full Day Yatra) Route: Katra → Banganga → Ardhkuwari → Bhawan → Bhairo Baba Mandir → Katra
This is the spiritual heart of your journey. Start early — ideally around 4:30–5:00 AM — to begin the yatra before the day warms up and the crowds build. From Katra, you'll proceed to Banganga, the traditional starting point of the pilgrimage, approximately 2 km from town. Here, pilgrims wash their feet at the ghat before commencing the climb.
The trek from Banganga to the Bhawan is approximately 14 km one way, ascending to an altitude of about 5,300 feet. The route is well-paved with handrails, rest stops, drinking water points, and food stalls. Most pilgrims complete the one-way journey in 4–6 hours on foot. Pony, palki, and battery car services are available at fixed Shrine Board rates for those who prefer assistance.
The key midway stop is Ardhkuwari Cave, where Mata Vaishno Devi is said to have meditated for nine months. The narrow Garbh Joon passage — a natural tunnel you crawl through — is one of the most memorable experiences of the yatra. Collect the Gufha Darshan token at the Ardhkuwari complex counter while ascending.
At the Bhawan, darshan is of the three natural rock Pindis representing Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati. After darshan, the traditional circuit continues to Bhairo Baba Mandir, 2.5 km beyond the Bhawan. A ropeway connects the Bhawan area to Bhairo Baba Temple (8 minutes each way). The yatra is traditionally considered incomplete without this stop.
Return to Katra by late afternoon or evening, depending on your pace and queue times. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Important: The full yatra typically takes 8–10 hours return on foot. Start early. Carry a light daypack with water, snacks, and a rain layer. Wear comfortable trekking shoes — not sandals. Ponies, palkis, and battery cars are available throughout at Shrine Board rates.
Day 3 — Shiv Khori Cave Shrine Excursion Route: Katra → Ransoo (approx. 73–80 km, 2–3 hours) → Shiv Khori Cave → Katra
Today's excursion takes you to Shiv Khori, a natural cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Reasi district — one of Jammu's most significant but lesser-visited pilgrimage sites. Depart Katra early (around 5:00 AM) for the scenic drive through the Reasi region via NH144, passing through the lower Himalayan foothills.
The motorable journey ends at Ransoo village, the base camp for Shiv Khori. From here, a 3–4 km uphill walk along a marked mountain path leads to the cave entrance. The trek is shorter and less steep than the Vaishno Devi route, but has uphill sections and uneven terrain. Pony services are available from Ransoo for those who prefer not to walk.
Inside the cave — approximately 200 metres long and barely a metre wide in places — you walk single file through naturally formed passages. The cave is constantly dripping with limestone water. At the far end is a self-manifested Shiv Lingam, roughly 4 feet tall, continuously bathed by the dripping rock above. Natural formations resembling Nandi, Ganesha, and Shiva's family can be seen along the way. Note that phones and cameras must be deposited in the cloak room before entering the cave.
Plan approximately 2 hours at the shrine, including the trek, queue, and darshan. Return to Ransoo and drive back to Katra, arriving by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4 — Departure from Katra to Jammu Route: Katra → Jammu Airport/Railway Station (approx. 50 km, 1.5–2 hours)
After breakfast, check out from your Katra hotel and transfer to Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station for your onward journey. Depending on your departure time, you may have a brief opportunity for last-minute shopping in Katra before departing.

Best Time to Travel
October–March: Generally considered the best period for both yatras. Weather is pleasant, trails are comfortable, and crowds are manageable outside festival dates. Winter months (December–February) bring cold temperatures but a quieter experience.
March–June: Peak pilgrimage season, especially during Chaitra Navratri (March–April). Weather is warmer but manageable. Crowds are significantly higher during Navratri periods.
July–September (Monsoon): Off-season. Heavy rainfall can make trails slippery and the Shiv Khori trek muddy. The region is lush and green, but travel conditions are less predictable. Not recommended for those uncomfortable with rain and potential delays.
Navratri Periods: Extremely high crowds. Yatra may be suspended temporarily for crowd management. If traveling during Navratri, be prepared for long queues and possible schedule changes.

Moderate. The itinerary is designed to be practical rather than rushed. Day 2 is dedicated entirely to the Vaishno Devi yatra. Day 3 is a full-day excursion to Shiv Khori. This gives each shrine proper time without cramming both into a single exhausting day.

Shiv Khori requires a 3–4 km walk from Ransoo village. Pony services available.
Phones and cameras are not permitted inside Shiv Khori cave.

Cancellation, Amendment & Refund Policy
1. Booking Confirmation & Advance Payment
A booking shall be considered confirmed only upon receipt of the required advance payment. The company reserves the right to release unconfirmed bookings without prior notice. All payments made towards booking confirmation are subject to the cancellation terms mentioned below.
2. Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or official communication channels. Cancellation charges will be calculated based on the total package cost and the date on which the written cancellation request is received by the company.

3. Non-Refundable Components
The following components shall be strictly non-refundable once confirmed:

- Adventure/activity tickets
- Any special event or festive season supplement
- Service fees, processing fees, and convenience charges
The company reserves the right to deduct supplier-imposed cancellation charges in addition to the above retention charges wherever applicable.
4. Amendment / Rescheduling Policy
Any amendment, modification, postponement, or rescheduling request must be submitted in writing and shall be subject to availability and supplier approval. The company does not guarantee acceptance of amendment requests after booking confirmation. Any fare difference, seasonal surcharge, hotel rate revision, transport cost escalation, or supplier-imposed amendment fee shall be payable additionally by the client/agent. Amendments requested within 30 days of arrival may be treated as a cancellation and rebooking at the sole discretion of the company.
5. No Show Policy
Failure of the guest/client to arrive, utilize booked services, or join the tour on the scheduled date without prior written intimation shall be treated as a “No Show”.
In such cases:
- 100% of the total booking amount shall be forfeited
- No refund, amendment, or credit note shall be applicable
- Unused services, early departures, or missed sightseeing tours shall not qualify for any refund.
6. Force Majeure / Unforeseen Circumstances
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for any cancellation, delay, alteration, loss, or additional expense arising due to circumstances beyond the company’s control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Floods, snowfall, landslides, road blockages
- Political unrest, strikes, curfews
- Flight cancellations or operational disruptions
- Pandemic-related restrictions
- Government orders or travel advisories
Under such circumstances:
- Refunds, if any, shall strictly depend upon recoveries received from hotels, transporters, and other suppliers.
- Administrative, processing, and operational charges shall remain non-refundable.
- The company reserves the absolute right to alter itineraries in the interest of guest safety and operational feasibility.
7. Refund Policy
Eligible refunds, if any, shall be processed within 30–45 working days from the date of cancellation confirmation. Refund timelines are subject to receipt of funds from respective suppliers/vendors. Refunds shall be processed only through the original payment mode unless otherwise agreed in writing. Bank charges, payment gateway fees, foreign exchange fluctuations, and transaction charges shall be deducted from the refundable amount.
8. Pricing & Supplier Protection Clause
All package rates are dynamic and subject to availability at the time of confirmation. In case of sudden supplier tariff revisions, fuel hikes, government taxes, or hotel policy changes, the company reserves the right to revise package pricing prior to final confirmation. Confirmed bookings shall remain protected unless impacted by force majeure or supplier default.
9. Jurisdiction
Any dispute arising in relation to bookings, payments, or services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts located in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir only.
10. Hotel Damage & Liability Clause
Any loss, damage, breakage, theft, or misuse of hotel/houseboat property caused by guests shall be the sole responsibility of the guest and/or the booking agent. Charges imposed by the hotel/houseboat management for damages, excessive cleaning, missing items, or misconduct must be settled directly by the guest or agent before check-out. Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for disputes arising between guests and hotel management regarding damages or conduct. The company reserves the right to recover any unpaid damage charges from the booking agent in case the guest departs without settlement.
11. Guest Conduct Policy
Guests are expected to maintain respectful and lawful behavior throughout the tour. Any misconduct including but not limited to:
- Abuse towards staff/drivers/hotel employees
- Illegal activities
- Consumption of prohibited substances
- Damage to public or private property
- Disturbance to other guests
May result in immediate termination of services without any refund. Any fines, penalties, legal consequences, or damages arising due to guest behavior shall be borne entirely by the guest and/or (b2b) booking agent. The company reserves the right to deny services to intoxicated, abusive, or disruptive guests if deemed necessary for operational safety.
12. Payment Default Clause
All payments must be cleared within the agreed timeline prior to guest arrival unless otherwise approved in writing. Failure to clear pending dues may result in:
- Release of hotel bookings
- Suspension of services
- Denial of check-in/check-out assistance
- Cancellation of transport arrangements without further liability on the company.
In case of delayed payments:
- The company reserves the right to levy interest/late payment charges.
- Any supplier penalties arising due to delayed payment shall be recoverable from the booking agent/client.
- Vouchers and confirmations issued prior to full payment shall remain provisional until payment realization.
13. Peak Season / Blackout Cancellation Policy
The following periods shall be treated as Peak Season / Blackout Dates:
- Christmas & New Year
- Eid Holidays
- Long weekends
- National holidays
- Heavy snowfall periods
- Festival dates
- Any dates specifically notified by the company
During these periods:
- Hotel bookings, transport services, and houseboats may carry stricter cancellation terms imposed by suppliers.
- Certain bookings may become completely non-refundable immediately after confirmation.
- Advance payments during blackout periods may be non-transferable and non-adjustable.
- The company reserves the right to apply special cancellation policies for peak dates irrespective of the standard cancellation policy mentioned above.
14. Kashmir Weather / Snowfall Disclaimer
Kashmir is a weather-sensitive destination and operations may be affected due to:
- Snowfall
- Landslides
- Road closures
- Avalanches
- Traffic restrictions
- Flight disruptions
- Government-imposed movement restrictions
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be responsible for:
- Non-availability of sightseeing
- Gondola closure
- Missed flights/trains
- Route diversions
- Hotel changes caused by weather conditions
- Delay or cancellation of activities due to snowfall or road blockage
Additional expenses arising due to:
- Extra hotel nights
- Alternative transport
- Route changes
- Vehicle chain charges during snow
- Flight rescheduling
Shall be borne directly by the guest/client. No refund shall be applicable for unused services caused due to weather conditions or government restrictions beyond operational control.
15. Supplier Substitution Clause
In case any confirmed hotel, houseboat, or transport provider becomes unavailable due to operational reasons, overbooking, weather conditions, maintenance, or force majeure, the company reserves the right to provide a similar category alternative without prior liability. Every effort shall be made to maintain service standards and comfort levels.
16. B2B Confidentiality Clause
All contracted rates, quotations, and pricing shared with agents/partners are strictly confidential and intended solely for B2B business use. Redistribution of net rates directly to suppliers, competitors, or unauthorized third parties is strictly prohibited. The company reserves the right to terminate business relationships in case of rate misuse or breach of confidentiality.
SPECIAL NOTICE
Vaishno Devi Yatra Registration:
Yatra registration is mandatory for all pilgrims. Register online at the official Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board website or at the Yatra Registration Counter in Katra (near the main bus stand). You will receive a free RFID-based Yatra Access Card. Without this, pilgrims are turned back at checkpoints. Only designated tracks may be used — shortcuts are prohibited.
Shiv Khori Cave:
Phones and cameras are not permitted inside the cave and must be deposited in the cloak room. The cave passage is narrow in places — one person wide. Travelers with claustrophobia may prefer to remain at the shrine complex outside. The cave shrine is typically open 5:00 AM – 7:00 PM in summer and 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM in winter, but timings are subject to change.
Weather & Season:
The Vaishno Devi trek involves climbing to 5,300 feet. Weather can change quickly. During winter (December–February), the path may be cold and icy — check conditions before starting. During monsoon (July–September), the trail can be slippery. The best conditions are generally March–June and October–November.
Yatra Suspension:
The Vaishno Devi Yatra may be temporarily suspended during periods of extreme crowd pressure (e.g., Navratri) or adverse weather. If suspension occurs during your visit, alternative arrangements or itinerary adjustments will be made where possible. No refund is applicable for weather-related or government-imposed disruptions.
Physical Fitness:
The Vaishno Devi yatra is a 14 km trek (one way) to the Bhawan, with the option of ponies, palkis, and battery cars at various stages. Travelers with mobility concerns should plan assistance in advance. The Shiv Khori trek is shorter (3–4 km one way) but has uphill sections.
