A 7-day, 6-night group pilgrimage to Amarnath using helicopter service from Neelgrath (Baltal) to Panchtarni, cutting the multi-day trek to an 8-minute flight. Includes Srinagar stay, Sonamarg base, registration guidance, and the final 6 km darshan approach on foot or by pony.
Day by day
Day 1 — Arrival in Srinagar, Dal Lake and Acclimatisation Route: Srinagar Airport → Srinagar city
Arrive at Srinagar Airport (SXR) and transfer to your hotel or houseboat on Dal Lake. The afternoon is free for acclimatisation - Srinagar sits at 1,585 m, and even if you're flying to Panchtarni, your body benefits from a day at moderate altitude before the cave shrine at 3,888 m. In the evening, take a shikara ride on Dal Lake and walk the Boulevard Road. Dinner at the hotel. Early night - tomorrow's drive to Sonamarg starts at 7 AM.

Day 2 — Srinagar to Sonamarg Route: Srinagar → Sonamarg (approx. 80 km, 2.5–3 hours)
Drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg (2,740 m) - the "Meadow of Gold." The road follows the Sindh River through Ganderbal and Kangan. Sonamarg is the base for the Baltal route, and staying here overnight lets you acclimatise further and reach the Neelgrath helipad early tomorrow without a pre-dawn drive from Srinagar. Afternoon free to walk the meadow, visit the Thajiwas Glacier viewpoint (pony ride optional, ~₹800–₹1,200), or rest. Evening briefing on tomorrow's helicopter schedule and the 6 km approach to the cave.

Important: Sonamarg is at 2,740 m. If you feel any breathlessness or headache, inform the coordinator. Do not exert yourself. Tomorrow is the helicopter day - rest is part of the preparation.
Day 3 — Helicopter to Panchtarni, Darshan at Amarnath Cave, Return to Sonamarg Route: Sonamarg → Neelgrath Helipad (Baltal) → Panchtarni (helicopter) → Amarnath Cave (6 km on foot/pony) → Panchtarni → Neelgrath → Sonamarg
This is the darshan day. Leave Sonamarg by 5:30-6:00 AM for the Neelgrath helipad at Baltal (15 km, 30 minutes). The helicopter flight to Panchtarni takes 8-10 minutes, flying over the Sindh valley and Himalayan glaciers. From Panchtarni, the Amarnath cave is 6 km - on foot (2-3 hours each way), by pony, or by palki. The cave sits at 3,888m and houses the ice lingam, a natural stalagmite that waxes and wanes with the moon. Darshan typically takes 1-3 hours depending on crowd. Return to Panchtarni for the helicopter back to Neelgrath, then drive to Sonamarg. Arrive by late afternoon. Rest.

Luggage limit on the helicopter is 5 kg per person
Day 4 — Sonamarg to Srinagar, Afternoon at Leisure Route: Sonamarg → Srinagar (80 km, 2.5-3 hours)
A slow morning in Sonamarg. Drive back to Srinagar after breakfast. Arrive by early afternoon. The rest of the day is free - rest, recover, or visit the Mughal gardens (Nishat, Shalimar, Chashme Shahi) if you have the energy. Evening free for shopping at Lal Chowk or the Government Arts Emporium. This is a recovery day after the darshan.

Important: If you have altitude symptoms (headache, nausea) that haven't resolved, rest and hydrate. The return to Srinagar's lower altitude (1,585 m) usually helps.
Day 5 — Srinagar: Old City Heritage and Shankaracharya Temple Route: Srinagar → Jama Masjid → Khanqah-e-Moula → Hazratbal → Shankaracharya Temple → Srinagar
A full day in Srinagar's old city and around the lake. Start at Jama Masjid, built in 1394, with its 378 deodar pillars and courtyard that holds thousands. Walk through the downtown lanes to Khanqah-e-Moula, a 14th-century Sufi shrine on the Jhelum - entirely Kashmiri wooden architecture, no nails. After lunch at Dal Gate, drive to Hazratbal Dargah on the western shore of Dal Lake. End at Shankaracharya Temple, a 9th-century Shiva temple on a hilltop 1,000 feet above the city - the views are the best in Srinagar. Note: the temple is reached by a steep road and then 240 steps.

Important: Modest clothing required at all shrines - shoulders and knees covered. Shoes off at mosque and temple entrances. Fridays: Jama Masjid is crowded for midday prayers; plan around it. Shankaracharya Temple is closed to non-Hindus inside the sanctum, but the outer platform is open to all.
Day 6 — Srinagar: Pampore Saffron Fields and Awantipora Ruins Route: Srinagar → Pampore → Awantipora → Srinagar
A half-day excursion south of Srinagar. Drive to Pampore, where saffron is grown on the karewa plateaus - harvest is late October to early November, and for about two weeks the fields are purple with flowers. Stop at Awantipora for the 9th-century ruins of a Vishnu temple built by King Awantivarman - one of the few surviving pre-Islamic stone structures in Kashmir, with massive columns and a colonnaded courtyard. Return to Srinagar by afternoon. Evening free for last-minute shopping or a final shikara ride.

Check out after breakfast and transfer to SXR. Most flights leave before noon. If your flight is later, the Government Arts Emporium near Lal Chowk is worth a stop for pashmina and saffron. Pack liquids in checked luggage.

Things to Pack:
Clothing: Warm layers for Sonamarg and the cave (temperature at cave: 2-5°C even in July) . Thermal inners, fleece jacket, waterproof windcheater or rain poncho. Woolen cap, gloves, muffler. Quick-dry trousers.
Footwear: Waterproof trekking shoes with ankle support for the 6 km approach. Do not wear new shoes. Sandals for hotel.
Travel Essentials: Small backpack (max 5 kg for helicopter) , water bottle (1 litre minimum), ORS packets, energy bars, sunscreen SPF 50+, lip balm, personal first-aid kit, prescription medicines.
Documents: Aadhaar card (original), yatra permit, CHC, RFID card, passport photos (4), travel insurance copy.
Optional: Poncho, trekking pole, knee cap, camera (deposit at cave entrance).

The yatra operates July 3 - August 28, 2027. This is monsoon season in Kashmir - expect rain, cloud and sudden weather changes. Helicopter operations are weather-dependent and frequently cancelled in rain, fog or high wind. Early July and late August are slightly cooler; mid-July to mid-August is warmer but wetter. No yatra operates outside this window.
Suitable For:
Pilgrims who want Amarnath darshan without the multi-day trek - elderly travelers, families with children, time-pressed pilgrims, or anyone with limited physical fitness. The helicopter cuts the 14 km Baltal trek to an 8-minute flight, but the final 6 km from Panchtarni to the cave is still on foot (or pony/palki). Not suitable for travelers who cannot manage 6 km of uneven terrain at altitude, unless they hire a pony or palki.
Travel Pace:
Moderate. One demanding day (helicopter + 6 km approach + darshan), the rest relaxed. No multi-day trekking. Days 5-6 are sightseeing at leisure.
Accommodation:
Srinagar: 3 nights hotel or deluxe houseboat (twin/triple sharing). Sonamarg: 2 nights 3-star hotel (twin/triple sharing). Upgrades to 4-star properties available on request. Sonamarg accommodation is comfortable but not luxury - limited heating, limited hot water in peak monsoon.
Transport:
Shared AC vehicle for road transfers. The helicopter is operated by SASB-authorised companies (Global Vectra, Arrow Aircraft, or similar). Helicopter luggage limit is 5 kg per person - carry only essentials for the darshan day. Main luggage stays at the Sonamarg hotel.
Meals:
Breakfast and dinner included on all days. Packed lunch on helicopter day (Day 3). Lunches on other days not included - budget ₹200-₹400 per person. Meals are simple vegetarian. Sonamarg hotels serve basic North Indian and Kashmiri food.
Important Notes:
Registration is mandatory. Registration opens April 15, 2026, online at jksasb.nic.in or the SASB app, and offline at 550+ bank branches (SBI, PNB, ICICI, Yes Bank, Axis) .
Age limit: 13-70 years. Women over 6 weeks pregnant are not permitted .
Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC): Must be issued on or after April 8, 2027, by an authorised doctor .
RFID card mandatory: Collect from designated centres in Jammu or Srinagar after biometric verification. Wear around neck throughout the yatra.
Helicopter weather risk: If the flight is cancelled, rescheduling to the next available slot is the standard practice. This may delay your itinerary by a day .
5 kg luggage limit on the helicopter. Carry ID, CHC, RFID card, medicines, warm layer, water bottle .
BSNL connectivity: Prepaid SIMs from other states do not work in J&K. BSNL Yatra SIM is available at base camps.
Build buffer days: Weather suspensions are common. Book return travel 2 days after your planned darshan.
Seasonal Considerations:
Early July: Yatra begins. Cooler temperatures, fewer crowds. Helicopter operations relatively stable.
Mid-July to mid-August: Warmest period but peak monsoon. Rain, hail, and sudden cloud cover. Highest risk of helicopter cancellation.
Late August: Yatra ends. Cooler again, crowds thin. Weather marginally more stable.
No operation outside July 3 - August 28, 2027.

Cancellation & refund policy
Cancellation, Amendment & Refund Policy
1. Booking Confirmation & Advance Payment
A booking shall be considered confirmed only upon receipt of the required advance payment. The company reserves the right to release unconfirmed bookings without prior notice. All payments made towards booking confirmation are subject to the cancellation terms mentioned below.
2. Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or official communication channels. Cancellation charges will be calculated based on the total package cost and the date on which the written cancellation request is received by the company.

3. Non-Refundable Components
The following components shall be strictly non-refundable once confirmed:
- Flight/train tickets (if applicable)
- Visa fees
- Permit charges
- Peak season hotel bookings
- Houseboat bookings during high season
- Adventure/activity tickets
- Any special event or festive season supplement
- Service fees, processing fees, and convenience charges
The company reserves the right to deduct supplier-imposed cancellation charges in addition to the above retention charges wherever applicable.
4. Amendment / Rescheduling Policy
Any amendment, modification, postponement, or rescheduling request must be submitted in writing and shall be subject to availability and supplier approval. The company does not guarantee acceptance of amendment requests after booking confirmation. Any fare difference, seasonal surcharge, hotel rate revision, transport cost escalation, or supplier-imposed amendment fee shall be payable additionally by the client/agent. Amendments requested within 30 days of arrival may be treated as a cancellation and rebooking at the sole discretion of the company.
5. No Show Policy
Failure of the guest/client to arrive, utilize booked services, or join the tour on the scheduled date without prior written intimation shall be treated as a “No Show”.
In such cases:
- 100% of the total booking amount shall be forfeited
- No refund, amendment, or credit note shall be applicable
- Unused services, early departures, or missed sightseeing tours shall not qualify for any refund.
6. Force Majeure / Unforeseen Circumstances
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for any cancellation, delay, alteration, loss, or additional expense arising due to circumstances beyond the company’s control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Floods, snowfall, landslides, road blockages
- Political unrest, strikes, curfews
- Flight cancellations or operational disruptions
- Pandemic-related restrictions
- Government orders or travel advisories
Under such circumstances:
- Refunds, if any, shall strictly depend upon recoveries received from hotels, transporters, and other suppliers.
- Administrative, processing, and operational charges shall remain non-refundable.
- The company reserves the absolute right to alter itineraries in the interest of guest safety and operational feasibility.
7. Refund Policy
Eligible refunds, if any, shall be processed within 30–45 working days from the date of cancellation confirmation. Refund timelines are subject to receipt of funds from respective suppliers/vendors. Refunds shall be processed only through the original payment mode unless otherwise agreed in writing. Bank charges, payment gateway fees, foreign exchange fluctuations, and transaction charges shall be deducted from the refundable amount.
8. Pricing & Supplier Protection Clause
All package rates are dynamic and subject to availability at the time of confirmation. In case of sudden supplier tariff revisions, fuel hikes, government taxes, or hotel policy changes, the company reserves the right to revise package pricing prior to final confirmation. Confirmed bookings shall remain protected unless impacted by force majeure or supplier default.
9. Jurisdiction
Any dispute arising in relation to bookings, payments, or services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts located in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir only.
10. Hotel Damage & Liability Clause
Any loss, damage, breakage, theft, or misuse of hotel/houseboat property caused by guests shall be the sole responsibility of the guest and/or the booking agent. Charges imposed by the hotel/houseboat management for damages, excessive cleaning, missing items, or misconduct must be settled directly by the guest or agent before check-out. Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for disputes arising between guests and hotel management regarding damages or conduct. The company reserves the right to recover any unpaid damage charges from the booking agent in case the guest departs without settlement.
11. Guest Conduct Policy
Guests are expected to maintain respectful and lawful behavior throughout the tour. Any misconduct including but not limited to:
- Abuse towards staff/drivers/hotel employees
- Illegal activities
- Consumption of prohibited substances
- Damage to public or private property
- Disturbance to other guests
May result in immediate termination of services without any refund. Any fines, penalties, legal consequences, or damages arising due to guest behavior shall be borne entirely by the guest and/or (b2b) booking agent. The company reserves the right to deny services to intoxicated, abusive, or disruptive guests if deemed necessary for operational safety.
12. Payment Default Clause
All payments must be cleared within the agreed timeline prior to guest arrival unless otherwise approved in writing. Failure to clear pending dues may result in:
- Release of hotel bookings
- Suspension of services
- Denial of check-in/check-out assistance
- Cancellation of transport arrangements without further liability on the company.
In case of delayed payments:
- The company reserves the right to levy interest/late payment charges.
- Any supplier penalties arising due to delayed payment shall be recoverable from the booking agent/client.
- Vouchers and confirmations issued prior to full payment shall remain provisional until payment realization.
13. Peak Season / Blackout Cancellation Policy
The following periods shall be treated as Peak Season / Blackout Dates:
- Christmas & New Year
- Eid Holidays
- Long weekends
- National holidays
- Heavy snowfall periods
- Festival dates
- Any dates specifically notified by the company
During these periods:
- Hotel bookings, transport services, and houseboats may carry stricter cancellation terms imposed by suppliers.
- Certain bookings may become completely non-refundable immediately after confirmation.
- Advance payments during blackout periods may be non-transferable and non-adjustable.
- The company reserves the right to apply special cancellation policies for peak dates irrespective of the standard cancellation policy mentioned above.
14. Kashmir Weather / Snowfall Disclaimer
Kashmir is a weather-sensitive destination and operations may be affected due to:
- Snowfall
- Landslides
- Road closures
- Avalanches
- Traffic restrictions
- Flight disruptions
- Government-imposed movement restrictions
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be responsible for:
- Non-availability of sightseeing
- Gondola closure
- Missed flights/trains
- Route diversions
- Hotel changes caused by weather conditions
- Delay or cancellation of activities due to snowfall or road blockage
Additional expenses arising due to:
- Extra hotel nights
- Alternative transport
- Route changes
- Vehicle chain charges during snow
- Flight rescheduling
Shall be borne directly by the guest/client. No refund shall be applicable for unused services caused due to weather conditions or government restrictions beyond operational control.
15. Supplier Substitution Clause
In case any confirmed hotel, houseboat, or transport provider becomes unavailable due to operational reasons, overbooking, weather conditions, maintenance, or force majeure, the company reserves the right to provide a similar category alternative without prior liability. Every effort shall be made to maintain service standards and comfort levels.
16. B2B Confidentiality Clause
All contracted rates, quotations, and pricing shared with agents/partners are strictly confidential and intended solely for B2B business use. Redistribution of net rates directly to suppliers, competitors, or unauthorized third parties is strictly prohibited. The company reserves the right to terminate business relationships in case of rate misuse or breach of confidentiality.
