Day by day
Day 1 — Arrival in Jammu & Transfer to Katra Route: Jammu Airport/Railway Station → Katra (approx. 50 km, 1.5–2 hours)
Arrive at Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station, met by your group coordinator and transferred to Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. The drive through the Trikuta foothills builds anticipation for the days ahead. Upon arrival in Katra, check into your hotel and rest. In the evening, if you haven't already registered online, visit the Yatra Registration Counter near the main bus stand to collect your RFID-based Yatra Access Card. Registration is mandatory - without it, you will be turned back at checkpoints. The process is straightforward and free. Spend the evening exploring Katra Main Bazaar, where shops sell devotional items, dry fruits, and local crafts. Group briefing and welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 — Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan Route: Katra → Banganga → Ardhkuwari → Bhawan → Bhairo Baba Mandir → Katra
The spiritual heart of the J&K journey. Start early - around 4:30-5:00 AM - to begin the yatra before the day warms up and crowds build. From Katra, proceed to Banganga, the traditional starting point, where pilgrims wash their feet at the ghat before commencing the climb. The trek from Banganga to the Bhawan is approximately 14 km one way, ascending to about 5,300 feet. The route is well-paved with handrails, rest stops, and drinking water points. Most pilgrims complete the one-way journey in 4-6 hours on foot. Pony, palki, and battery car services are available at fixed Shrine Board rates. The key midway stop is Ardhkuwari Cave, where Mata Vaishno Devi is said to have meditated for nine months - the narrow Garbh Joon passage is a memorable experience. At the Bhawan, darshan is of the three natural rock Pindis. After darshan, continue to Bhairo Baba Mandir, 2.5 km beyond the Bhawan - the yatra is traditionally considered incomplete without this stop. Return to Katra by evening.

Day 3 — Katra to Srinagar via Patnitop Route: Katra → Patnitop → Srinagar (approx. 220 km, 6–7 hours)
A full driving day as you leave Katra and head towards the Kashmir Valley. The route passes through Patnitop, a hill station in the Udhampur district surrounded by pine forests. If time permits, a brief stop at Patnitop offers a stretch and views of the Pir Panjal range. The drive continues through the Jawahar Tunnel - a 2.5 km tunnel connecting Jammu to Kashmir - emerging into the valley. Arrive in Srinagar by evening and check into your houseboat on Dal Lake. A gentle shikara ride at sunset offers the first taste of Kashmir's iconic lake life.

Day 4 — Srinagar: Mughal Gardens & Old City Route: Srinagar (local sightseeing)
A full day exploring Srinagar's cultural and spiritual heritage. Begin at Shankaracharya Temple, perched atop Gopadri Hill, one of Srinagar's oldest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, dating back to the 9th century, with panoramic views over Dal Lake. Continue to the Mughal Gardens - Nishat Bagh ("Garden of Pleasure") and Shalimar Bagh ("Abode of Love"), built by Emperor Jahangir for his beloved Noor Jahan. Chashme Shahi, the "Royal Spring," has a natural spring with ice-cold drinkable water. In the afternoon, visit Hazratbal Shrine, one of Kashmir's holiest Muslim sites, set on the waterfront with white marble against the lake's shimmering waters. Evening free for a stroll along the Boulevard or shopping at local markets for Pashmina shawls and papier-mâché crafts.

Day 5 — Sonmarg Excursion Route: Srinagar → Sonmarg → Srinagar (approx. 80 km one way, 2–3 hours)
A full-day excursion to Sonmarg, the "Meadow of Gold," through the Sindh Valley. The drive itself is part of the experience - wildflowers against snow-capped peaks, with the Sindh River gushing alongside. At Sonmarg, the easy 2 km walk to Thajiwas Glacier is suitable for most fitness levels, though pony rides are available. The glacier walk is snow-free underfoot in summer. Return to Srinagar by evening for a second night on the houseboat.

Day 6 — Srinagar to Gulmarg Route: Srinagar → Gulmarg (approx. 50 km, 1.5–2 hours)
Drive to Gulmarg, the "Meadow of Flowers," at 2,650 meters. Gulmarg is a vast meadow surrounded by pine forests with the Himalayan range as a backdrop. The Gulmarg Gondola is one of the highest cable cars in the world - Phase 1 (Gulmarg to Kongdoori) is gentle and suitable for all ages. Phase 2 (Apharwat at 3,980m) offers more dramatic views but is not recommended for children under ten or anyone with respiratory conditions. Afternoon at leisure to explore the meadow, take pony rides, or simply enjoy the alpine scenery. Overnight in Gulmarg.

Drive to Pahalgam, the "Valley of Shepherds," with a stop en route at the Pampore saffron fields - a lovely lesson in where the world's priciest spice comes from. Arrive in Pahalgam and check into a riverside hotel. Afternoon visit to Betaab Valley and Aru Valley - gentle walks, open fields, and family photography spots. The Lidder River runs through Pahalgam; evening walks along its banks are a highlight.

Day 9 — Srinagar to Kargil via Sonmarg Route: Srinagar → Sonmarg → Zojila Pass → Drass → Kargil (approx. 204 km, 7–8 hours)
The transition from Kashmir's green valleys to Ladakh's stark landscapes begins today. Drive to Sonmarg, then cross Zojila Pass (3,527 m), the "Gateway to Ladakh." Just after Zojila, the topography changes dramatically - greenery gives way to rugged, dry mountain scenery. Stop at Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on Earth, for tea and a passport check. Continue to Kargil, arriving by evening.

Day 10 — Kargil to Alchi via Lamayuru Route: Kargil → Mulbekh → Lamayuru → Uleytokpo/Alchi (approx. 161 km, 5–6 hours)
Drive through dramatic landscapes, crossing Namikala (3,718 m) and Fotula Pass (4,094 m). Visit the huge rock-cut statue of Lord Buddha at Mulbekh. At Lamayuru, explore one of Ladakh's oldest and most magnificent monasteries, founded in the 10th century, with its renowned collection of carpets, thangkas and frescoes. The surrounding "Moonland" formations are otherworldly. Continue to Uleytokpo Camp near Alchi for overnight.

Drive along the Indus River towards the Changthang plateau. Stop at Chumathang Hot Springs - natural hot water springs where locals believe in their healing properties. Pass through Sumdah village and spot wild marmots en route. Arrive at Korzok village near Tso Moriri Lake by late afternoon. Tso Moriri is Pangong's quieter, wilder twin - same alpine lake aesthetic, but with a fraction of the visitors. Walk the shoreline at dusk; the silence is complete.

Best Time to Travel:
Mid-June to mid-October is the window when all routes - including Zojila Pass into Ladakh, Khardung La, and Tso Moriri - are reliably open and the weather is pleasant. June to August offers warm days in Kashmir and accessible high passes in Ladakh. September brings golden light, fewer crowds, and crisper air. Winter (November-May) closes most high passes and makes the Ladakh sector impractical.
Suitable For:
Adventurous travelers with 18 days available and a desire to see the full spectrum of J&K - pilgrimage, Kashmir's meadows, and Ladakh's high-altitude deserts. Comfortable with long driving days (6–8 hours on some days), basic accommodation in remote areas (Tso Moriri, Uleytokpo), and high altitude (up to 5,359 m). Not suitable for travelers with serious heart or respiratory conditions, or those who cannot manage rough roads and limited facilities.
Travel Pace:
Moderate to challenging. This is a comprehensive group tour covering three distinct regions. Days 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15 involve long drives on mountain roads. Acclimatization is built into the itinerary with rest days and gradual altitude gain.
Accommodation:
Hotels in Katra, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Kargil, Leh, and Jammu. Houseboat in Srinagar. Camp/guesthouse in Uleytokpo and Tso Moriri. Accommodation in remote areas is basic - clean beds, hot water when available, and simple meals.
Transport:
Private air-conditioned vehicle (non-AC in high-altitude Ladakh sectors due to terrain). Vehicle type depends on group size. The Leh-Jammu sector is by flight. Roads in Ladakh are rough and winding - motion sickness medication is recommended.

Breakfast and dinner included. Lunch is not included - the group will stop at local restaurants or dhabas (own cost). Vegetarian options are widely available. Carry snacks and water for long drives.
Important Notes:
Acclimatization is critical. The itinerary includes gradual altitude gain and rest days.
Carry Diamox or consult your doctor about altitude medication before arrival.
Leh and Tso Moriri are remote - fuel and cash are limited. Carry sufficient cash; digital payments may not work.
Mobile connectivity is patchy outside Leh and Srinagar.
This is a group tour. Timelines are coordinated but flexibility is needed on mountain roads.

Cancellation & refund policy
Cancellation, Amendment & Refund Policy
1. Booking Confirmation & Advance Payment
A booking shall be considered confirmed only upon receipt of the required advance payment. The company reserves the right to release unconfirmed bookings without prior notice. All payments made towards booking confirmation are subject to the cancellation terms mentioned below.
2. Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or official communication channels. Cancellation charges will be calculated based on the total package cost and the date on which the written cancellation request is received by the company.

3. Non-Refundable Components

- Service fees, processing fees, and convenience charges
The company reserves the right to deduct supplier-imposed cancellation charges in addition to the above retention charges wherever applicable.
4. Amendment / Rescheduling Policy
Any amendment, modification, postponement, or rescheduling request must be submitted in writing and shall be subject to availability and supplier approval. The company does not guarantee acceptance of amendment requests after booking confirmation. Any fare difference, seasonal surcharge, hotel rate revision, transport cost escalation, or supplier-imposed amendment fee shall be payable additionally by the client/agent. Amendments requested within 30 days of arrival may be treated as a cancellation and rebooking at the sole discretion of the company.
5. No Show Policy
Failure of the guest/client to arrive, utilize booked services, or join the tour on the scheduled date without prior written intimation shall be treated as a “No Show”.
In such cases:
- 100% of the total booking amount shall be forfeited
- No refund, amendment, or credit note shall be applicable
- Unused services, early departures, or missed sightseeing tours shall not qualify for any refund.
6. Force Majeure / Unforeseen Circumstances
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for any cancellation, delay, alteration, loss, or additional expense arising due to circumstances beyond the company’s control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Floods, snowfall, landslides, road blockages
- Political unrest, strikes, curfews
- Flight cancellations or operational disruptions
- Pandemic-related restrictions
- Government orders or travel advisories
Under such circumstances:
- Refunds, if any, shall strictly depend upon recoveries received from hotels, transporters, and other suppliers.
- Administrative, processing, and operational charges shall remain non-refundable.
- The company reserves the absolute right to alter itineraries in the interest of guest safety and operational feasibility.
7. Refund Policy
Eligible refunds, if any, shall be processed within 30–45 working days from the date of cancellation confirmation. Refund timelines are subject to receipt of funds from respective suppliers/vendors. Refunds shall be processed only through the original payment mode unless otherwise agreed in writing. Bank charges, payment gateway fees, foreign exchange fluctuations, and transaction charges shall be deducted from the refundable amount.
8. Pricing & Supplier Protection Clause
All package rates are dynamic and subject to availability at the time of confirmation. In case of sudden supplier tariff revisions, fuel hikes, government taxes, or hotel policy changes, the company reserves the right to revise package pricing prior to final confirmation. Confirmed bookings shall remain protected unless impacted by force majeure or supplier default.
9. Jurisdiction
Any dispute arising in relation to bookings, payments, or services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts located in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir only.
10. Hotel Damage & Liability Clause
Any loss, damage, breakage, theft, or misuse of hotel/houseboat property caused by guests shall be the sole responsibility of the guest and/or the booking agent. Charges imposed by the hotel/houseboat management for damages, excessive cleaning, missing items, or misconduct must be settled directly by the guest or agent before check-out. Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be held liable for disputes arising between guests and hotel management regarding damages or conduct. The company reserves the right to recover any unpaid damage charges from the booking agent in case the guest departs without settlement.
11. Guest Conduct Policy
Guests are expected to maintain respectful and lawful behavior throughout the tour. Any misconduct including but not limited to:
- Abuse towards staff/drivers/hotel employees
- Illegal activities
- Consumption of prohibited substances
- Damage to public or private property
- Disturbance to other guests
May result in immediate termination of services without any refund. Any fines, penalties, legal consequences, or damages arising due to guest behavior shall be borne entirely by the guest and/or (b2b) booking agent. The company reserves the right to deny services to intoxicated, abusive, or disruptive guests if deemed necessary for operational safety.
12. Payment Default Clause
All payments must be cleared within the agreed timeline prior to guest arrival unless otherwise approved in writing. Failure to clear pending dues may result in:
- Release of hotel bookings
- Suspension of services
- Denial of check-in/check-out assistance
- Cancellation of transport arrangements without further liability on the company.
In case of delayed payments:
- The company reserves the right to levy interest/late payment charges.
- Any supplier penalties arising due to delayed payment shall be recoverable from the booking agent/client.
- Vouchers and confirmations issued prior to full payment shall remain provisional until payment realization.
13. Peak Season / Blackout Cancellation Policy
The following periods shall be treated as Peak Season / Blackout Dates:
- Christmas & New Year
- Eid Holidays
- Long weekends
- National holidays
- Heavy snowfall periods
- Festival dates
- Any dates specifically notified by the company
During these periods:
- Hotel bookings, transport services, and houseboats may carry stricter cancellation terms imposed by suppliers.
- Certain bookings may become completely non-refundable immediately after confirmation.
- Advance payments during blackout periods may be non-transferable and non-adjustable.
- The company reserves the right to apply special cancellation policies for peak dates irrespective of the standard cancellation policy mentioned above.
14. Kashmir Weather / Snowfall Disclaimer
Kashmir is a weather-sensitive destination and operations may be affected due to:
- Snowfall
- Landslides
- Road closures
- Avalanches
- Traffic restrictions
- Flight disruptions
- Government-imposed movement restrictions
Poise Travel and Tourism shall not be responsible for:
- Non-availability of sightseeing
- Gondola closure
- Missed flights/trains
- Route diversions
- Hotel changes caused by weather conditions
- Delay or cancellation of activities due to snowfall or road blockage
Additional expenses arising due to:
- Extra hotel nights
- Alternative transport
- Route changes
- Vehicle chain charges during snow
- Flight rescheduling
Shall be borne directly by the guest/client. No refund shall be applicable for unused services caused due to weather conditions or government restrictions beyond operational control.
15. Supplier Substitution Clause
In case any confirmed hotel, houseboat, or transport provider becomes unavailable due to operational reasons, overbooking, weather conditions, maintenance, or force majeure, the company reserves the right to provide a similar category alternative without prior liability. Every effort shall be made to maintain service standards and comfort levels.
16. B2B Confidentiality Clause
All contracted rates, quotations, and pricing shared with agents/partners are strictly confidential and intended solely for B2B business use. Redistribution of net rates directly to suppliers, competitors, or unauthorized third parties is strictly prohibited. The company reserves the right to terminate business relationships in case of rate misuse or breach of confidentiality.
